With God….all things are possible!

It’s always good to remember this!

Jesus is a safe harbor's avatarA Safe Harbor is Jesus

Image

When we ask for God’s help, we dedicate our endeavor to Him. We admit that in our strength this would not be possible but we proclaim that God can accomplish anything through someone who is willing. We put God’s courage into our heart with His truth. We retrain our minds by taking the words “I can’t” out of our vocabulary.

“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.'” ~~~ Mark 10:27

Do your circumstances seem impossible? Are you battling discouragement or fear of your unknown future? Keep your eyes on the Lord every day and not on your circumstances. I pray that you will start to learn how to walk in faith and stand on the promises of God speaking God’s Word to the liar and deceiver, Satan.

Never doubt that God is in control. He…

Holding in the Storm

REVELATIONS FROM A BAD RACE – April 1

God sees your heart. Run your best and He will see you to the finish line!

JD Blom's avatarA DEVOTED LIFE

““Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” 1 Corinthians 9:24

In my last post (Race Day), I was in the midst of pre-race excitement and the unknown of never having competed in a cycling event.  I am now in the haze of reflection on a weekend of bicycle racing.

ToO Road Race 2014

I now know that my day-dream of standing on a podium really was a silly fantasy.
I also know the dreaded realization of being crushed by  “real” cyclists.

Time Trial:

I knew I was in trouble as I watched the other riders warm-up. I was impressed by the degree of aero-equipment that whizzed past me; TT bikes, aero-helmets, aero-wheels, and skin-suits of every variety and shape.  The vast majority of my competitors wore the gear of a cycling team and looked very…

3 poems, a bridge

HEAVEN AND EARTH
Your love pulls down
My centre of gravity
Its weight binds me
To the earth.

My eyes reach up
To Sun and Moon and Stars
Beckoning with a promise
Of God’s love.

My heart soars high
Even as my body
Clings restlessly
To familiar ground.

Shall I choose Heaven
And God’s embrace?
Or the earthly pleasures
Of your flesh?

Is Hell the opposite
Of Heaven
Or are you?

MY FLESH REMEMBERS
My flesh remembers
The fevered question of you kisses
Tracing the current of my response
From tips of breast
To quivering loins
And lower still.

My flesh remembers
The brush of curly hair
Against the smoothness
Of my skin
Rough and soft
Opposites attract.

My flesh remembers
The heady scent of you
Citrus, geranium and sweat
When I tremble
At your touch
You sigh.

My flesh remembers
Long after my mind
In self-protection, banishes
The memories
That burn
My soul.

My flesh remembers…

GOD’S LOVE, NOT YOURS
Words don’t leave your lips
Your fingers sigh
Your kisses sing
Love, for you
Is a physical thing.

Your eyes meet mine
Yours close
Mine don’t
If I look away
I know you won’t.

Our hearts are beating fast, it’s true
To be alive is to be with you
And yet, today, our love must die
That I may walk by Jesus’ side.

The truth is finally clear to me
It’s only now that I can see
God, in His Heaven above
Demands obedience, rewards with love.

My time on earth will end one day
The Bible teaches me God’s way
And guides me to the very end
In ways I cannot comprehend.

Your love’s a distant memory
But if, one day, your face I see
Will God be there with us as well?
Or did I fall and go to Hell?

Note: 3 poems I wrote in early 2000 as I transitioned from a temporary affair with a man of flesh and blood to the permanent relationship I am forever committed to with Jesus Christ.

QUOTE (Teresa of Ávila) – Mar. 28

Wise words. True. Beautiful. May they speak to your heart as they do to mine. God bless you all.

JD Blom's avatarA DEVOTED LIFE

Teresa of Ávila

“May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content knowing that you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and everyone of you.”
~ Teresa of Ávila

In honor of Teresa of Ávila, a Spanish Mystic and Carmelite nun, who was born on this day in 1515.
